Level 2 Food Safety - Catering

Food handlers and their employers have a legal duty to manage food safety in line with EU and UK legislation. This course provides essential knowledge to help ensure that food prepared, cooked, served or sold is safe for human consumption. Poor food safety practices can lead to contamination with potentially serious or fatal consequences.
The Level 2 Food Safety course builds on basic awareness and is designed for those who regularly handle food, giving learners a clear understanding of how food safety risks arise and how they can be controlled and prevented in the workplace.
Course Overview
The course covers the legal framework surrounding food safety and the responsibilities of both employers and employees. Learners will explore food safety hazards that can arise at each stage of the food process, from delivery and storage through preparation and service.
The course also focuses on risk control and prevention of contamination, including temperature control, hygiene practices and safe working procedures. It concludes by examining the role of people, premises and pest control in maintaining a safe food environment.

This course is suitable for anyone working in catering, manufacturing or retail environments where food is prepared, cooked or handled. It is ideal for food handlers who have regular contact with open or high-risk foods.

Further Progression
