Moving and Handling People

The course begins by explaining the principles of safer patient handling and the legislation that underpins moving and handling practices. Learners are guided through creating and applying risk assessments, followed by detailed practical instruction for manoeuvring patients in a range of situations. Techniques for transferring, walking, bed mobility, and hoisting are explained, alongside the use of equipment such as slide sheets and hoists. The course also addresses how to prevent and manage patient falls, ensuring care is delivered safely and effectively in health and social care settings.
