Paediatric First Aid

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to Paediatric First Aid, equipping learners with the theoretical knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond effectively to medical situations involving children and infants. The training covers emergency planning, assessing situations, basic life support (BLS), CPR, shock, fractures, bleeding, and a variety of minor illnesses and injuries. While this course provides the essential theory, practical demonstration is required to be fully competent in paediatric first aid. Learners are encouraged to contact the provider to arrange hands-on training.

  • Nursery, pre-school, and school staff

  • Childminders and daycare professionals

  • Sports instructors and childcare volunteers

Learning Objectives 

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Understand the principles of paediatric first aid and emergency planning.

  • Assess a situation and apply the appropriate first aid response.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic life support (BLS) and CPR for children and infants.

  • Recognise and manage shock, bleeding, fractures, head injuries, and minor injuries.

  • Identify and respond to specific medical conditions affecting children.

  • Maintain accurate first aid records and ensure first aid kits are appropriately stocked.
