Prevent Duty

This course provides an introduction to the UK Government’s Prevent strategy, which is part of the overall counter-terrorism plan. It aims to prevent radicalisation and stop individuals from committing acts of terrorism. The course explains why people may become extremists, the objectives of the Prevent strategy, and how learners can take appropriate action based on a risk-based approach. Learners will also gain an understanding of the Channel process and the promotion of British values as part of preventing extremism.

Practical guidance is provided on what to do if you are concerned about someone, including a clear overview of the Channel process, which is designed to support individuals at risk of radicalisation.
