Service Description

Course Overview This course provides essential knowledge for anyone required to work at height, with a strong focus on legal duties, risk awareness, and the principles of safe working practices. It covers UK health and safety legislation, including the Work at Height Regulations 2005, and outlines the responsibilities of both employers and employees in ensuring a safe working environment. Participants will learn how to plan and organise work at height, conduct risk assessments, and apply the hierarchy of control measures to prevent falls. The course highlights common hazards, such as fragile surfaces, falling objects, and misuse of access equipment, and demonstrates how to apply effective control strategies. A key focus is placed on selecting appropriate equipment, including ladders, scaffolds, mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs), and fall protection systems, and understanding how to verify their suitability and condition. As a knowledge-based course, the emphasis is on developing a theoretical understanding rather than practical skills. By the end of the session, learners will be able to make informed decisions, recognise unsafe situations, select and manage appropriate equipment, and contribute to a safer workplace culture. Course Length Duration: Half day (approximately 4 hours) What You Will Learn By the end of this course, participants will be able to: Understand UK legal requirements and responsibilities under the Work at Height Regulations 2005 Recognise common hazards and risks associated with working at height Plan and organise work safely, including risk assessments and control measures Select appropriate access equipment and verify its suitability Promote safe working practices and contribute to a positive safety culture Who Is It For This course is suitable for: Employees, supervisors, and managers involved in work at height Health and safety representatives and those responsible for planning or overseeing work at height Assessment Method Participation in discussions and scenario-based exercises Short written or multiple-choice assessment to confirm understanding Certification Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion in Working at Height Knowledge, valid for three years. Prerequisites No formal qualifications are required. Participants should have a basic understanding of workplace safety and be able to engage in theoretical discussions and scenario-based exercises.

Booking, Cancellation & Attendance Policy Refund Eligibility The following cancellation charges apply: More than 14 days before the Course: Full refund (minus a £15 admin fee) 7–14 days before the Course: 50% of Fee payable Less than 7 days before the Course: 100% of Fee payable Late Cancellations Cancellations made less than 7 days before the course start date are not eligible for a refund. How to Cancel All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email to: katy@solenttrainingsolutions.co.uk No-Shows Participants who do not attend the course and fail to provide cancellation notice will not receive a refund. Late Arrivals Please aim to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled course start time. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after the published start time, you may be refused entry. Refunds will not be issued to participants who are refused entry due to late arrival.
