Course Overview This course provides essential knowledge for anyone required to work at height, with a strong focus on legal duties, risk awareness, and the principles of safe working practices. It covers UK health and safety legislation, including the Work at Height Regulations 2005, and outlines the responsibilities of both employers and employees in ensuring a safe working environment. Participants will learn how to plan and organise work at height, conduct risk assessments, and apply the hierarchy of control measures to prevent falls. The course highlights common hazards, such as fragile surfaces, falling objects, and misuse of access equipment, and demonstrates how to apply effective control strategies. A key focus is placed on selecting appropriate equipment, including ladders, scaffolds, mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs), and fall protection systems, and understanding how to verify their suitability and condition. As a knowledge-based course, the emphasis is on developing a theoretical understanding rather than practical skills. By the end of the session, learners will be able to make informed decisions, recognise unsafe situations, select and manage appropriate equipment, and contribute to a safer workplace culture. Prerequisites No formal qualifications are required. Participants should have a basic understanding of workplace safety and be able to engage in theoretical discussions and scenario-based exercises.
